It's official, I'm getting out of construction and am a employee of Nextcast products!
Going to be moving to the Portland/Vancouver area in a few weeks.
Probably won't compete at this years SOR as I've yet to practice and won't have time to do so before the event.
Might show up to watch and heckle though.

Finally landed a steelhead last night.
It's been two years since I've been able to fish and it felt good!
A wild 36" buck that was pretty damn bright.
I've been get getting pulls and short hookups often but no solid hookups till last night.
Got it in the same run as my first Clearwater steelhead and also my biggest steelhead landed so that run has given me lots of love.
Prototype Burkie rod is a CANNON and has a great action to fight fish.
My fishin skills are rusty, been farming strikes bad:( but now the stink is off and I can relax and fish happily with no stress.

Another great Red Shed clave!
I have some pics to post but my computer is FUBAR:(
Had a great time a got to see many friends and meet a few people also.
I'm happy to say I won the 15 and big cookie cast off!
Ali likes when I bring home the big cookie.
Weather was SUPER nice!
NO wind when Simon and I did our demo.
Usually it seems like I do my demos in hurricane winds.
Yesterday was productive as I got a super secret squirrel rod to try out fishing next weekend.
Looking forward to trying it out.
I'll post more about it when I can.
It was great to see then Red She'd family, the kids are sure growing up fast!
Here is the pics I have on my phone.

I recently heard Knut Syrstad passed after a hard long battle with cancer.
I'm am fortunate to say I was able to meet him and his brother.
For as young as they are the made a very big difference in the world of Spey casting.
Knut will be missed.
My last conversation with him ended with him saying I'd probably never see him again, unfortunately he was right.
Watching him cast at SOR while battling cancer and in great pain while still being competitive was awe inspiring.
Goodbye my friend and RIP.
I'm in Portland now at the Westmorland pond visiting friends and getting some much needed practice.
It's perfect conditions here now!
Some of the things I'm working on are my dreaded left single that really has hurt me at the last two SOR's.
Making good progress with it by cleaning up my back cast and I've been doing a lot of overhead to get a better hand path and cleaner acceleration in the forward cast.
Another task is getting my anchors and D loop in a better position and with better consistency especially on the left.
I'm also working at getting a bit more energy in my left and right snake roll back casts.
Feels good to get some practice in.
